L'Anse Baraga Figure Skating Association
The L'Anse-Baraga Figure Skating Club is a growing group of dedicated skaters and volunteers that keep both the Baraga Ice Rink and Meadowbrook Arena busy througout the year. Check back here for updates on the latest shows, the schedule for practicing, and how to get more information.

Schedule

  • Beginners Skate (learn the basics of figure skating)
    - Mondays and Thursdays from after school until 6 pm at Meadowbrook Arena
  • Upper Level Skate (work with coaches and learn more advance moves)
    - Mondays, Wednesdays and Fridays from 3:30-6 pm at Baraga Ice Rink
  • Christmas Show (free to the public)
    - December 13 at the Baraga Ice Rink at 2:00pm
  • End of the Year Show
    - March 14-15th at Meadowbrook Arena

High School Team
The L'Anse High School team competes in two events throughout the winter including the Turkey Trot and a tournament change to competition in Marquette that typically takes place in February. Linnea Olson is the coach of the team.

Synchronized Skaters
Every year several skaters from the L'Anse-Baraga FSC skate with the Northern Ice Synchronized Skating Team from the Copper Country Skating Association that is ran out of Houghton, Michigan. They team up with a group of skaters from Calumet, Houghton, Hancock and other surrounding communities. The group competes across the nation including weekends in Minneapolis, Minnesota, Fond Du Lac, Wisconsin, and Colorado.

Beginner Synchronized Skaters
Currently we are forming a team of beginning skaters Beginner Synchronized Skaters, for more information on this group please stop by the next board meeting, e-mail Fran Motley (fmotley@up.net), or stop by one of the skates on Monday or Thursday.
